Sunday School

At Skyland First Baptist Church, we have a variety of Sunday School classes for every age group.

Nursery

(Newborn to age 3)

Preschool

(Pre-Kindergarten ages 4 - 5)

Pathfinders

(Kindergarten - 5th grade)
In this class we learn about the Bible, Bible verses, God's message, and his love for people.  We learn these things by doing the weekly activity sheets, reading stories from the Bible, making crafts, and playing games based on the lesson for the week.  The children also enjoy singing along to Bible songs and playing Bible games on the tablets.  Prizes are rewarded to the children when they read 5 Bible verses, when they come to Sunday School all month, and when they bring a friend.  We also occasionally go to functions such as Fun Depot, mini golf, and more.  We feel blessed teaching the children and seeing them learn about the Lord.

 

Youth

(6th - 12th grade)
The youth group is made up of middle and high school students. Our youth enjoy lessons based upon the character traits needed to survive as a christian in today's world. Our classes are interactive and fun. Youth are encouraged to participate in each and every class. The more they put in to a class the more they get out of it.

Young Adult Class

(Co-ed)
Purpose is to prepare young adults to mature in their walk with Christ and young adulthood.  Activities include annual putt-putt championship.  Annual Western Carolina football games and community outreach of the sick and shut-ins.  On the 5th Sunday morning, we visit Brookdale assisted living facility.  Our young adult group is prepared to teach the younger classes when called upon.

Dorcas

(Adult Co-ed)
It is the goal of this class to offer the straight forward teaching of the Word of God in a small cell group type setting.  We strive to always make a personal application of the lesson truths to our own lives so that we become better Christians. Hearing impaired are welcome.

Gideon

(Men)
It is the goal of this class to offer the straight forward teaching of the Word of God in a small cell group type setting.  We strive to always make a personal application of the lesson truths to our own lives so that we become better Christians.

 

 

All For One

(Co-ed)
God's All-For-One class is a "Unique" family that consist of a wide variety of ages and areas. We study the scriptures and through open discussion we find how they apply to our daily lives. We also support selected local mission projects each month. The class reaches out every fifth Sunday morning with a visit to the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility to share music, prayer and Bible study. We have “Ladies night” every 3rd Tuesday night for fellowship.  We are strong believers in prayer and we welcome "all" to come and join the class and enjoy God's richest blessings!!

Good News

(Adult Co-ed)

We study God's word and enjoy fellowship, open discussions and prayer.  There are planned activities of fellowship which includes a night at your favorite restaurant.  There are a combination of couples and singles in this class.  On the 2nd Sunday we meet at the Brookdale Assisted Living facility.

 

 

Gospel Seekers

(Adult Co-ed)
New members and visitors are welcome.  The class consists of couples and individuals who participate in the discussion of the lesson and related material.  The class meets in the Family Life Center.
